The South Korean government has stepped up efforts to contain an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease that is threatening the country’s livestock industry. Despite widespread quarantines, tens of thousands of animals have been slaughtered from hundreds of farms. Affected farmers have mounted a campaign to claim compensation for their culled animals.
