  2. Rocstoneau says:

@ashlyrm14 Fortunately here in Australia, all public medical treatment is free. Our high taxes fund our medical system. No one needs to find money for good health treatment. And, we have free screenings for certain cancers. Prostate & Breasts.

  3. Rocstoneau says:

@gettinhitched I agree with that! Never would have entered my head, but now you said it it’s a BRILLIANT suggestion.

  6. aj929498 says:

@aj929498 I mistyped. 75 % of ovarian cancer patients have 15-35% survival (overall ovarian cancer survival with the lucky early diagnosed patients added is 45%)

  7. jerseymama13 says:

My mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer recently. Thank you, Kathy Bates for getting the word out. She also is going through 6 rounds of chemo. She is doing well also. She is my inspiration. You are an inspiration as well. We need some more awareness about this disease. God bless all of the strong, brave women going through this. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. ashlyrm14 says:

I also have ovarian cancer. I am only 24, I have a 2 and 3 yr old. I beat all the statistics. I shouldnt have cancer this young, at least this type. Myself and a few other women, and men, have started a charity group helping gynecological and breast cancer patients in financial assistance. 100% of proceeds go to the cause.

  9. maktorri9 says:

    @samsciacca369 absolutely

  10. supportingplayers says:

I love you for saying it was the best thing that ever happened to you. In so many ways I feel the same, even though I would never want to go through it again. Thanks for sharing your story. You’ll educate so many women!

  11. happylilsunbeam says:

    Exactly. I admire her candor.

  12. TriciaCrafts says:

    Think I’ve become a fan.

  14. OhCancerGirl says:

I can’t believe how similar our stories are! Ahhh! Amazing. I, also, believe getting ovarian cancer was one of the best things that had to me because it made me prioritize my life.
    Woo! Go Kathy!

  15. Jade7843498 says:

  16. VIEWTUBE00000 says:

    RIP KATHY BATES

  17. sweeneysister says:

IMDB and Wiki are reorting she died today-on her birthday?

  18. davekat says:

when female cancer of any kind appears we must act quickly to treat it. This must involve the removal of all female sites where this cancer can matastisize. Breast, Ovaries and Uterus. Sadly my neighbor passed away late Xmas Eve from what had started out as breast cancer. Cancer spread to the remaining single ovary they had left floating in the abdomin, which lodged against her her bladder, inoperable, incurable and deseased. After all her suffering, one single ovary ended her life.. How tragic.

  19. samsciacca369 says:

    same Kathy Bates from misery?

  20. weepingturtle says:

Jessica Tandy and Gilda Radner both dies from this disease. It isn’t picky and sure isn’t for wussies.

Ms. Bates, you’re in my thoughts. You’re tough, I know. You can fight this and win. Win it for my sister. Win it for all the others.

In memory of Lee Anne Ozee, the beautiful little deaf lady from Texas. I will outlive my big sister next year which is something that looms in the distance for me like a sinister blackness I cannot escape. Losing her has been hard.

  21. weepingturtle says:

I lost my sister, Lee Anne Ozee (37) to ovarian cancer in 2006. For her, the symptoms were mild suggesting GI issues rather than cancer. There was bloating, gas and difficulty with bowel movements and we treated it as such. Before we knew it, we were saying goodbye.
The motto for the ovarian cancer society is: “It whispers….so, listen.” Most women believe that regular GYN appts check for this, but they don’t. They only offer it to those with heightened risk factors due to cost.

  22. BertGriffin88 says:

  23. BUTTONBICHON says:

I am 29 and they keep testing me for it have not found anything yet but I am deathly scared. I know it’s a killer and doctors do not care these days they are just worried about breat cancer and cervical which are more easily treated and u can live with them!

  24. gettinhitched says:

She is absolutely one of THE most incredible actresses of all time. if they paired her and Sally Field together in a drama it would be an outstanding performance no doubt
