HPV FACTS and THROAT CANCER (human papilloma virus)

My girlfriend was diagnosed with HPV about 6 years ago. Since then I have been studying HPV extensively (human papilloma virus) and have been to several doctors and specialist. In doing so I noticed a ton of websites and even doctors giving wrong information about HPV! I decided to put all my findings into video form and opened this youtube account where I will be discussing new findings and would like to make this page a forum for discussing the skin disease. one MAJOR finding that most doctors and websites are still not aware of is that HPV is a major cause of Head and Neck Cancers (Mouth and Throat). Most websites, doctors and people are still under the impression that HPV only affects a womans cervix. WRONG! It affects BOTH men and women. You can get it a number of ways, 1 being through oral sex. Condoms DO NOT protect against it. There are often no signs or symptoms and its extremely hard to test for. Men cannot be test at all. Most people have no idea they even have HPV! Its extemely deadly though and they say that about 80% of the US population will get at least 1 of the 100+ types of this contagious skin to skin contact disease at some point in their lives. My hope is that after you watch this video you will be much better informed and will either prevent yourself from getting HPV or you will see doctors regularly to prevent yourself from developing the various types of cancer (throat, mouth, penile, vulva, cervical, and anal). If you have confirmation that a

Hola. Dios.

When it comes to the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) there are a few pharmaceutically manufactured antiviral drugs out there to treat the disease, and there are also antiviral supplements one can take.

Go to Google and type in: Antiviral Supplements, Interferon, HPV…and You.

You have done a wonderful job explaining about HPV and throat cancer in this article! I am a nurse and I have been suggesting there was a correlation between the two for years. If only Roger Ebert and Michael Douglas had this info! you wonder!

I have the high risk HPV. The first I knew was when I had an abnormal pap smear in 2007. After treatment I’m on a 10 year watch for recurrence or development of cancer. And then I discovered I’m also at risk of throat cancer. – For which there is no routine screening available. It’s like living with a timebomb inside you.

Please do not focus on CDC statistics, statistics lie, think more broadly, and death is not the only consequence of this horrible disease. Data on HPV related cancers, particularly oral is relatively new. My generation (50-60′s)shows the most newly diagnosed cases. Oral Cancer Survivor

“You’re saying that it is NOT rare for HPV to cause cancer deaths? Fewer than 8000 Americans die yearly from oral cancer, and many of those patients do not even have HPV.

  16. MsMirrorMirror says:

Good news: people with oral and oropharyngeal cancers associated with HPV infection have a better prognosis than people who have these cancers without HPV infection. Don’t take my word for it; check out the facts. Google: “Human papillomavirus infection as a prognostic factor in carcinomas of the oral cavity and oropharynx”

  17. MsMirrorMirror says:

HPV may be “rampid,” but it certainly is not “extremely deadly.” If 80% of Americans were infected with an “extremely deadly” virus, wouldn’t a lot of them be dead?

@smfitztx1 You’re saying that it is NOT rare for HPV to cause cancer deaths? Fewer than 8000 Americans die yearly from oral cancer, and many of those patients do not even have HPV. The CDC estimates that 50% of all sexually active Americans will have HPV at some point in their lives. The vast majority will never develop cancer. It is very rare to die from an HPV-related cancer.

@andobark I hope that you were properly diagnosed and are doing well.
